Kosciusko

Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:

8:13 a.m. Monday, April 29, East US 30, west of South CR 325E, Warsaw. Drivers: Jessica R. Shepherd, 26, East CR 125S, Pierceton; Beth A. Reed, 49, East CR 1000S, North Manchester. Shepherd told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on US 30 and could not stop her vehicle before it collided with the rear of Reed’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.

9:11 p.m. Friday, April 26, North SR 19 and CR 500N, Etna Green. Driver: Andrew A. Stenstrom, 34, West Anglin Road, Etna Green. Stenstrom told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 19 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.

8:58 a.m. Friday, April 26, North SR 13 and East CR 500N, North Webster. Drivers: Dylan E. Oberg, 21, East CR 500N, Leesburg; Robert L. Danner, 74, North First Street, Pierceton. Oberg told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on CR 500N and was turning turning left when his back tires broke loose, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and collide with the vehicle driven by Danner. Damage up to $10,000.

4:27 p.m. Thursday, April 25, West CR 500S, west of South CR 800W, Mentone. Driver: Phillip L. Owens, 38, North CR 1075E, Akron. Police said Owens was driving his vehicle eastbound on West CR 500S when he left the roadway for an unknown reason. Police said Owens’ vehicle rolled several times and came to rest on the north side of the road in a field. Police said Owens was combative when asked questions about the accident. Police also received calls from motorists about a reckless driver matching the description of Owens’ vehicle prior to the crash. Owens complained of neck pain and said he couldn’t see. He was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment. Damage up to $5,000.

11:59 a.m. Thursday, April 25, West Old Road 30, west of North CR 350W, Warsaw. Driver: Danny L. Hale, 65, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Police said Hale was eastbound on Old Road 30 and that he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, traveling across an open field and striking a pine tree head on. Hale told officers at the scene that he had been at a local tavern and that he was intoxicated. He was transported to Lutheran Hospital and a blood sample was taken. Damage up to $50,000.

Pierceton

Officers from the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:

1:30 a.m. Sunday, April 28, US 30, west of SR 15, Pierceton. Driver: Shawn D. Dennis, 39, West Columbia Street, Pierceton. Dennis told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.

Syracuse

Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:

11:21 p.m. Saturday, April 27, East Lake View Road, Syracuse. Driver: Jaylee A. Waldron-Frye, 18, CR 46, New Paris. Waldron-Frye told police she was backing her vehicle out of a parking space and did not see a vehicle parked behind hers, causing her to back her vehicle into the parked vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.

Warsaw

Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

12:25 p.m. Monday, April 29, South Detroit Street, east of East Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Felisha C. Acosta, 22, West Church Street, Leesburg; Chelsey S. Sexton, 36, West CR 800S, Claypool. Acosta told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on South Detroit Street and began a left hand turn, not seeing the vehicle driven by Sexton, causing a collision. Damage up to $25,000.

7:09 a.m. Monday, April 29, South SR 25 and South Columbia Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Rebecca M. Roach, 39, South CR 1200W, Akron; Diana L. Watters, 52, South Palestine Lane, Warsaw. Roach told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on Winona Avenue and did not see the vehicle driven by Watters stopped in front of her, causing a rear-end collision. Damage up to $2,500.

9:52 p.m. Saturday, April 27, US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Dawn Miner, 48, Colfax Street, Warsaw. Miner was attempting to enter eastbound traffic on US 30 from SR 15 when her vehicle went off the road to the left and she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a guardrail on the north side of the highway. Damage up to $10,000.

2:53 p.m. Saturday, April 27, North SR 15, north of CR 350N, Warsaw. Drivers: Bobby J. Burns, East Van Buren Street, Leesburg; Ronnie A. West, 82, West Church Street, Leesburg. Burns told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 15 when the rear wheel fell off his vehicle and rolled into northbound traffic, colliding with West’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.

9:32 a.m. Saturday, Oldfather Street, west of North Park Avenue, Warsaw. Police reported that a vehicle registered to Gods Highway To Heaven Church had been damaged by an unknown vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.

5:55 p.m. Friday, April 26, SR 15 and Canal Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Lorenzo A. Castro, 23, East Levi Lee Road, Warsaw; Harold Hill, 75, East Lantern Road, Warsaw; Joel M. Bowers, 46, Gilliam Drive, Warsaw. Castro told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 15 and attempted to change lanes. He said he did not see the vehicle driven by Hill stopped in the lane to his left. He collided with that vehicle, which in turn collided with the vehicle driven by Bowers. Damage up to $25,000.

10:08 a.m. Friday, April 26, US 30 and Commerce Drive. Drivers: Sherri L. Slough, 52, North Main Street, Bourbon; Dennis M. Kreider, 70, Belvidere Drive, Fort Wayne. Slough told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on US 30 and was turning into a parking lot when her vehicle struck Kreider’s westbound vehicle. Slough complained of neck pain and was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth. Kreider complained of pain to the knee, wrist and chest and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $10,000.

Winona Lake

Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:

7:37 a.m. Sunday, April 28, Park Avenue, Winona Lake. Driver: John E. DeGroff, 65, South Union Drive, Winona Lake. Police said DeGroff was driving his vehicle when it struck an electrical box at a restaurant. Police said DeGroff left the scene and was cited for the infraction. Damage up to $25,000.

3:45 p.m. Friday, April 26, Columbia Street, west of Park Avenue, Winona Lake. Driver: Charles L. Lamb, 71, East CR 600N, North Webster. Lamb told police he was driving his school bus westbound on Park Avenue and struck a guard rail as a result of understeering. Damage up to $2,500.
