SYRACUSE — Once a year members of the Syracuse Lake Association and Wawasee Property Owners Association have an opportunity to renew friendships and make new friends when both organizations host its annual family breakfast.

Approximately 300 attended this year’s event, held this morning at Oakwood Resort. Guests enjoyed biscuits and gravy, pancakes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and fresh fruit, along with apple or orange juice and coffee. Many took advantage of the opportunity to spend time sitting around tables talking with others and just enjoying the company of others living on the lake.

The breakfast was also an opportunity for area service organizations to sell memorabilia items and provide information. Among the groups present were The RedBird Art Studio – a Cardinal Center affiliate, Syracuse-Wawasee Trails, Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation and Wawasee Flotilla. There was also an opportunity to sign up for the weekly Friday morning canoe trip through the 10 lakes of the Wawasee Watershed. This event is hosted by the WACF.

The Water Lilly Gallery was also on hand with prints available to purchase in the WPOA Artists Series.

A staple at the event is the display of fire trucks and equipment of the Turkey Creek Fire Territory. The most popular is the chance to get in the bucket of the department’s ladder truck and take a ride above the hotel’s rooftop. Youngsters who visited the fire trucks were not only delighted to see the fire equipment, but to receive their own plastic fire hat and a sticker book.
