Mangas Sets Career High In IWU Win

MARION – Kyle Mangas put together another efficient performance Tuesday night.
It was also another career performance for the former Warsaw basketball star.
Mangas, a freshman guard at Indiana Wesleyan, poured in a career-high 34 points as the Wildcats whipped Marian 89-71 in a Crossroads League game at IWU.
Mangas hit 13-17 shots from the field, including 6-8 from 3-point range, as the No. 4 ranked Wildcats rolled to the league win. Mangas also had four rebounds and four assists in the win.
IWU bounced back after suffering an 87-84 conference loss at Huntington Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in league play with the win Tuesday night.
Mangas, who was an Indiana All-Star following his stellar career at WCHS, leads the Wildcats in scoring at 19.3 points-per-game after his big effort Tuesday. He is shooting 53 percent overall from the field, including 47 percent from distance. He is also averaging 5.0 rebounds per game and leads his team with 38 assists.
Mangas, who finished his prep career fourth in career scoring at Warsaw, continues to impress IWU coach Greg Tonagel.
I don’t think that will be the last time you say that’s a new career-high when talking about Kyle Mangas,” said Tonagel on the IWU athletics website. “And he did it on just 17 shots. He is just so efficient.”
IWU plays at Ohio Christian Friday night and an Cincinnati Christian on Saturday afternoon.
