Triton Football: Trojans Pile It On Again En Route To 3-0 Start
BOURBON — Triton football continued to pile it on in a 50-13 Hoosier North Athletic Conference game with Caston Friday night.
Bo Snyder threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 17-of-29 passing, and the Trojans (3-0, 2-0 HNAC) rushed for another 181 yards and three scores as they surpassed their win total from 2016.
Delano Shumpert finished with 126 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns a week after tallying 107 yards with three touchdown catches in a win over LaVille. Drew Stichter made five catches worth 65 yards, including two TD catches — the first the go-ahead on a 16-yard pass from Snyder that staked Triton to a 14-7 lead in the opening frame with the second of five successful point-after kicks by Brandon Lenker.
Max Slusser recorded 72 rushing yards and a touchdown in 10 carries, while Hunter McIntyre needed just two carries to reach 63 rushing yards and a TD in the win.
Tye Orsund finished with four tackles to lead a Trojan defense that surrendered 269 rushing yards but held the Comets to 4-of-9 third down efficiency and only one fourth down conversion on three tries and scored a safety in the first period. Slusser, Stichter, Ethan Berry, Lee Mullett and Tristan Young all finished with three tackles apiece.
Kasey Ault led Caston’s run game with 118 yards on 15 carries. Brady Hartman and Blake Albright scored the Comets’ (1-2, 0-2 HNAC) two touchdowns.
Triton takes a break from conference play opposite Bremen at home next Friday night.
