SOUTH WHITLEY — The Whitko boys basketball team picked up its first win of 2017 Friday night. The Wildcats hosted Rochester for a Three Rivers Conference tilt and whipped the Zebras 78-55 to move to 2-1 in league play.

Nate Walpole lead Whitko with 28 points while River West tallied 21 of his own. Spencer Sroufe added another 15 for the Wildcats. Whitko pulled away with a 28-15 advantage in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats are now back above .500 at 6-5 and host Southwood Friday night.

Rochester won the JV contest 46-42. Cody Swick led Whitko with 13 points.
