VALPARAISO — The Wawasee JV girls basketball team split its pair of games Thursday at the Valparaiso JV Invite.

Wawasee fell to Valpo to start its day by a score of 38-26. Sara Pritchard led the girls in scoring with nine points.

The luck turned for the Warriors in their final game against Portage. Hannah Lancaster was able to lift the team to victory by hitting the game-winning shot with 1.2 seconds left. It was Lancaster’s only bucket of the game, she scored five against Valpo.

Pritchard led the team in scoring once again with 12 points. McKenzie Smith added 10 for the Warriors in the contest while Caitlin Wortinger and Shelby Bolt each had eight points.

Wawsee improves to 10-2 on the season and will host NorthWood on Jan. 7.
