WARSAW — Kosciusko Community YMCA will start summer classes Monday, June 6. Classes will run through July 17. Classes for youth will include swim lessons, youth fitness and gymnastics classes for all ages. Registration for summer classes starts for everyone Monday, May 23.

Classes that promote the healthy living aspect of the Y will include group exercise and indoor group cycling, classes for older adults and water aerobics in both the warm water and lap pools. Adult classes are included with a Y membership. In addition to classes, the Y is offering several events for all ages this summer. Signups are at the welcome center.

The Y is offering the YMCA’s diabetes prevention class to help participants keep their pre-diabetes from advancing into diabetes. The class begins at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31. For more information, contact Stacy Thomas at [email protected] or (574) 269-9622, ext. 216.

In collaboration with local churches, the Y will offer “Parenting in the Real World” from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays, starting June 7, and “Reading the Bible with Purpose” from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, starting June 8.

To support those in the community going through cancer and their caregivers, the Y is hosting “Kathy’s Cancer Conversations,” a volunteer-led cancer support group meeting from 4:30-6 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the Parkview Center for Healthy Living inside the YMCA. Monday, June 13, the group will talk about benefits through exercise. Monday, July 11, Emily Moore, naturopathic physician at IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care, will talk about cancer-related fatigue. Walk-ins are welcome.

Signups are on-going for the “Livestrong at the YMCA” program, which assists those who are living with, through or beyond cancer to strengthen their spirit, mind and body. Contact Stacy Thomas at [email protected] or (574) 269-9622, ext. 216 for details.

Mondays, June 13 through July 25 (not July 4), there will be an adult seven-on-seven Soccer League. Games will be at 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30 p.m. Sign up before the first game with a max of 10 players per team and two alternates on the roster. Contact Zane Gard at [email protected] (574) 269-9622, ext. 238 for more information.

The YMCA will offer a safety around water program for free at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18. Ages 3-12 will learn water safety and basic swimming skills that help reduce the risk of drowning and build confidence in and around water.  Sign up by Monday, June 13.

In addition, the Kosciusko Community YMCA is offering eight specialty camps for ages 3-17, focused on gymnastics, fitness, basketball, sports, golf and swimming. This is an opportunity for children to try something new without committing to a full session or season of a sport. For a complete sports camp listing, see www.kcymca.org.
