Valley Girls Dominate All-TRC Hoops Choices
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team dominated the Three Rivers Conference again this season to claim a second straight league championship.
The Vikings also dominate the All-TRC team that was released today.
A quartet of players from coach Chris Kindig’s team headline the all-league squad.
The Valley contingent named to the team includes senior Brynda Krueger, juniors Anne Secrest and Meredith Brouyette and sophomore Addy Miller.
The Vikings went 9-0 in league play as part of a 25-2 season. Valley saw its season end Saturday night with a loss to Heritage Christian in the finals of the Class 3-A Columbia City Regional.
The Whitko girls basketball team had a stellar season as the Wildcats went 19-7 and were 7-2 to finish in third place in the TRC. Whitko was also sectional runner-up to Westview at Central Noble in Class 2-A.
The Wildcats had a pair of players earn All-TRC honors in senior Jennifer Reiff and junior Aly Reiff.
The All-TRC team also features Alexa Holland and Becky Malchow from Rochester, Cierra Carter (Manchester), Payton Thomson (Northfield), Brooke Elliott (Southwood) and Madison Barden (Wabash).
The honorable mention list includes Tippecanoe Valley junior Hannah Dunn and Whitko junior Brianna Cumberland.
The other players earning honorable mention honors were Bri Humbert (Maconaquah), Emmy Grant (North Miami), Rae Bedke (Manchester), Ariel Dale (Northfield), Ashlynn Shank (Peru), Ali Larkin (Rochester) and Bailey Yoakum (Wabash).
Valley won the TRC title at 9-0, while Rochester was runner-up at 8-1. Whitko was in third place at 7-2, followed by Wabash (6-3), Northfield (5-4), Manchester (3-6), Southwood (3-6), North Miami (2-7), Maconaquah (1-8) and Peru (1-8).
Valley and Rochester each lost in regional finals on Saturday. The Zebras finished a 24-2 season with a loss to Lafayette Central Catholic in Class 2-A.
