WARSAW — The Baker Youth Club (BYC) and its board of directors have made the difficult decision to cancel their “in-person” event scheduled for August 15.

The “Making A Difference” with Dueling Pianos has been rescheduled for Friday, March 12, 2021. Executive Director Tracy Frunivall commented, “The board felt that with the number of people typically attending this event and the socializing that comes with it was not in the best interest of our community at this time.”

“The health and safety of our community is more important than trying to host an event like this.” The decision to cancel was not an easy choice—this event is our biggest fundraiser of the year and is a vital part of our budget,” he said.

The money generated from the annual event funds many of the BYC programs as well as a large portion of the operating budget. In lieu of an “in-person” event, BYC will host a “Live Streaming” event on Thursday, August 27 from 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 pm. This event will have guest speakers, entertainment, live and silent auction with the goal to raise funds to enable BYC to continue serving the community as it has for over 90 years. “More than any year, BYC needs our community’s support,” says Furnivall.

The community will be able to view the event, all you have to do “Like/Follow” the BYC Facebook page and you will get promotional videos and updates regarding the event and the auction, then just follow us “Live” on Facebook Thursday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m.

BYC was able to reopen its doors on June 1 for their summer program and while following CDC guidelines will continue to operate their before and after school programs once schools open. If school does not reopen, BYC will continue to follow CDC guidelines and remain open as a resource for ELearning, physical activity and a safe
