GOSHEN – Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College will host a free virtual workshop for educators interested in learning more about the research, pedagogy and approach within two approaches – Forest Kindergartens and Nature Preschools.
The workshops are aimed at teachers who are interested in learning more about the growing movement and are an introductory-level conference that will build an understanding of the research, pedagogy and the overall approach of these programs.
The series will be on July 14, July 16, July 21, and July 23 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Participants will learn about play-based learning and get the chance to network with local educators in the field. Other opportunities include engaging in modeled activities and seeing other outdoor classroom spaces.
The workshop is called Taking School Outside: A Virtual Teacher Workshop on Forest Kindergartens and Nature Preschools. Registration is required at Merry Lea’s website: www.goshen.edu/merrylea/takingschooloutside.
Indiana teachers may also receive Professional Growth Points by participating. It is possible to attend 1 or 2 sessions, but we recommend attending each one as the information will build throughout the workshop.
Merry Lea is near Wolf Lake, which is halfway between Goshen and Fort Wayne.
Directions and updates are available at goshen.edu/merrylea or the Merry Lea Facebook page. For questions regarding Merry Lea’s hours or new developments, contact [email protected] or (260) 799-5869.
