Warsaw Schools Launch #ForwardTogether Return To School Guide
Press Release
WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools and the Warsaw Community Education Association are working together in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Education, the Governor’s office, local health department, Indiana High School Athletic Association, and multiple other community leaders to develop a plan for a safe physical return to school for students and employees.
Over the past few months, a Return to School Task Force created a comprehensive guide that will be used to share current protocols, practical logistics and future updates for returning to school.
The guide, titled #ForwardTogether, is available on the district website and includes important information from different departments as well as constructive ways parents and the community can support a safe return to school.
WCS Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert also announced two modifications to the 2020-21 school calendar. The first is a move of Professional Learning Communities (PLC) from Thursdays to Mondays. Teachers report to their buildings and use this time to collaborate with colleagues to analyze student data. Students will adjust their late start day to Mondays. The second modification addresses WCS’s commitment to provide additional deep cleaning opportunities across the district using industrial disinfectants and electrostatic sprayers on traditional calendar breaks and by moving to eLearning on the following nine Mondays:
- Sept. 21
- Oct. 5
- Nov. 9
- Dec. 7
- none scheduled in January
- Feb. 1, 2021
- March 8 and 22, 2021
- April 19, 2021
- May 3, 2021
