WARSAW — Between noon Friday, June 5, and noon Monday, June 8, the Kosciusko County Health Department reported 35 new cases of COVID-19. This brings the county’s number of positive cases to 245.

The KCHD asks that people continue wearing masks in public indoor settings, social distance as much as possible and remain mindful of sanitization.

“Many cases are directly linked to close contact with positive cases and cases have begun to experience more severe symptoms – whereas in March, April and early May the cases were still sporadic and symptoms were mild to none at all,” read a KCHD press release.

Statewide, the latest posting on the Indiana State Department of Health website shows the number of COVID-19 deaths in Indiana rose to 2,135.

The total positive number of COVID-19 cases in Indiana is now at 37,623. More than 309,000 Hoosiers have been tested for COVID-19.

Locally, Whitley County has 51 positive cases and Wabash County has 84 positive cases. Marshall County has 227 positive cases, which is up from 187 reported on Friday, June 5. Noble County has 299 positive cases. Elkhart County has 1,741 positive cases, which is up from 1,585 reported on Friday.

Fulton County’s case number remains unchanged at 51.

In other northern Indiana counties, Lake County has 3,959 positive cases, up from 3,876 reported on Friday; Allen County has 1,896 positive cases; and St. Joseph County has 1,418 positive cases.

Marion County, which includes Indianapolis, has the most cases in the state at 10,358.

According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, more than 506,000 people in the United States have recovered from COVID-19.
