WARSAW – Despite repeated pleas to not use city beaches, Center Lake was a busy place at times over the weekend.

Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer has urged people to respect the ban until it is lifted, which is scheduled for June 14, according to state guidelines over concern for coronavirus.

Thallemer reiterated his request that people avoid the beach.

Asked about beach activity, Thallemer offered little comment other than to say the beaches would remain closed this week.
