Tippecanoe Valley High School Seniors Celebrate With Parade

MENTONE  — People gathered on both sides of Main Street in Mentone Friday night, May 22, to cheer for Tippecanoe Valley High School seniors during their graduation parade.

Decorations were placed along both sides of the street.

Participating students departed from TVHS at 7 p.m. and headed onto SR 19, traveling north to Mentone.

After entering Mentone, the parade path went east on Main Street, then made a right turn onto South CR 1000W. The parade route went south on South CR 1000W, eventually turning in to SR 14 into Akron.

Students drove west through the town of Akron, then made a right turn onto North Mishawaka Street, heading north toward Akron Elementary School.

The parade ended at the intersection of SR 19 and SR 114.

Students were encouraged to wear their TVHS graduation gowns and to drive responsibly and behave in a manner reflective of a TVHS student.

Graduation plans for the class of 2020 have been moved to Sunday, July 19, as a result of the pandemic. The baccalaureate ceremony will now begin at 7 p.m., with the graduation ceremony beginning at 7:30 p.m. The rain date for graduation is Sunday, July 26.
