SYRACUSE — A two vehicle accident involving a semi truck and a silver Lincoln SUV resulted in one driver being airlifted from the scene. The collision occurred northeast of Syracuse on US 6 at the intersection of US 33 at approximately 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 6.

Preliminary indications show that the black semi, which was pulling a single trailer, was westbound on US 6 when it collided with the southbound SUV which had entered the intersection. Traffic entering US 6 from US 33 is mandated to stop for traffic by a flashing red light.

An air ambulance was requested to transport the driver of the SUV. The condition of the driver was unknown at press time.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, Turkey Creek Fire Territory and Benton Township Fire and Rescue were among those responding to the scene, which was cleared at approximately 10 a.m.

A white Lincoln SUV was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday, May 6.
