PIERCETON – The food bank of Northern Indiana, along with The Salvation Army, hosted a drive-up food distribution at Pierceton Elementary school Wednesday morning, April 29.

Members of the community were able to line up in the school’s parking lot and receive a box of food as well a box of fruit, all provided by the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.

With help from the Salvation Army organizers were ready to distribute 436 packed boxes and a van full of apples and bananas, said Ron Albert, of the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.

Also there to help was Ken Locke, administrator of the Salvation Army of Warsaw, along with his wife and a few others.

“It is a pleasure to be able to help out around the community and will continue to keep on schedule with further distribution of free food,” Locke said.

The distribution came under rainy conditions but did not prevent a large line of people seeking food.

The next event will take place at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, 1400 E. Smith St., Warsaw, on Wednesday, May 6, beginning at 10 a.m.
