INDIANAPOLIS — More than 26,000 tests for COVID-19 have been administered throughout Indiana.

The number of deaths increased to 139, as of Monday morning, April 6, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.

Total positive cases increased to 4,944.

Locally, Kosciusko County has 14 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Fulton County has three positive cases. Whitley and Marshall Counties each have eight positive cases. Wabash County has three positive cases. Elkhart County has reported 36 positive cases.

Noble County has reported 10 positive cases.

The Noble County Health Department announced cases of COVID-19 have been reported at the Sacred Heart Home long term care facility in Noble County, including the first death in the county.

“We know that people older than 60 with underlying health conditions are most at risk during this pandemic,” said Noble County Health Officer Dr. Terry Gaff. “We ask that everyone join in our efforts to protect these vulnerable people by not visiting long-term care facilities, but rather using other options, such as offering residents access to mobile devices to continue virtual contact with loved ones through email or video-call applications,” Gaff said.

Marion County, which includes Indianapolis, has the most cases in the state, with 1,956.

In northern Indiana, Lake County has 369 positive cases; St. Joseph County has 112 positive cases. Allen County has 75. positive cases.
