WARSAW – A desperate call last week for help from the American Red Cross for blood led to some positive reaction.

But there’s been a setback.

Because of the social distancing expectation, the Red Cross cannot use its standard bloodmobiles for blood drives for the time being.

As a result, four blood drives planned at various locations in Kosciusko County have been canceled and replaced with two events at Center Lake Pavilion in Warsaw.

Officials are reaching out to update donors who were scheduled for specific events, including one set for the Walmart in Warsaw that was already filled up with reservations.

Walmart was added to the schedule last week for this Friday and already had a full schedule, according to a spokesperson for the Red Cross.

The new events at Center Lake Pavilion will be on Monday, March 30 from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Another one will be from noon to 6 p.m. on April 14, the spokesperson said.
