MENTONE — The Town of Mentone is providing an alternative means of trash disposal for its residents.

Last week, Akron-based Valley Sanitation suspended regular trash pickup in Mentone until further notice, according to Tim Croy. He is a member of the Mentone Town Council.

On Friday, March 20, three rollaway dumpsters were installed by the town and Valley Sanitation in the parking lot next to Subway at the corner of West Main Street/SR 25 and North Tucker Street. A fourth dumpster will be installed soon, according to Croy. The dumpsters are intended only for Mentone residents. All trash must be bagged.

Residents “need to take their trash to the dumpsters until notified otherwise,” Croy said.

“We are looking out for the safety of our community,” said Croy. The town is “doing what it can to limit the exposure to anyone in our community during these trying times dealing with the coronavirus,” he said.
