WARSAW — The Friends of the Warsaw Community Public Library and Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce members held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, March 3, for ‘Story Emporium,’ a new used bookstore that is located in the library.

Story Emporium is sponsored and managed by the FOL and volunteers.

According to a release from the Friends of the Library, the bookstore provides an array of quality used books of all genres, as well as music CDs, DVDs, video games and other materials at affordable prices. FOL created Story Emporium as an alternative to multiple large book sales and mini sales. All proceeds from sales are used to support WCPL.

“The idea caught everyone’s imagination and before we knew it, we had space designated and it started coming together,” said Bree Robinson, FOL volunteer.

Story Emporium is on the lower level of the library and is in the hallway to the left of the circulation desk. The store is filled to the brim with books and has so many materials that several book carts are also located outside of the store’s main room.

The majority of Story Emporium’s inventory are discarded items from WCPL. According to a release from the Friends, the store does not accept donations; however, the library will accept clean, gently used books that may be processed into the bookstore’s inventory.

“Everything that is bought, that money goes to support the library’s programming, activities and materials,” said Robinson. “It’s a good way for people to support the library.”

Story Emporium is open about eight days a month with varying days and hours. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month; 1 to 4 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month; 4 to 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month; and from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

Robinson said the best way to stay updated on Story Emporium’s sales and offers is to check the Friends of the Warsaw Community Public Library’s Facebook page, as well as the WCPL Facebook page.
