NORTH WEBSTER — It is time to begin preparing for the Kosciusko County Kids Business Fair. It will be hosted by the North Webster Community Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21.

The deadline to register is Sunday, March 1. Applications are available at the center, 301 N. Main St. (SR 13). Information is also available by calling (574) 834-1600 or visiting the North Webster Community Center Facebook page.

Chairman Mike Kissisnger shared, “The area kids have provided us in the past with some fantastic young entrepreneurs (grades K-8) with original ideas and passion galore. I look forward to seeing what 2020 brings.

For those who have not experienced or witnessed this unique educational opportunity, click on this link to get a taste of a similar event not unlike ours.

“For those kids and parents looking for just a fraction of ideas that are out there (tons and tons more are waiting to be discovered), check out this YouTube video. The idea is simple, the kids are CEOs of their very own business.

“They invest, or find someone (mom, dad, grandparents, etc.) to invest who the kids will need to pay back, in their business and then determine how they can create a business that they are passionate about and that can produce a profit

“We also encourage the young CEOs to give back to their community. In the past, the kids have donated a percent of their sales, offered a collection can at their booth, etc., to a cause that they select on their own. This has included a food bank, humane shelter, mission organization or a family in need to name a few.

“We encourage the entire family to get involved but the kids are the bosses. They may want to hire their family as their workforce? Siblings may require a lofty wage. Deadline to enter is March 1 but the kids should start preparing soon. Cash prizes are given away in different age groups and categories.

“The volunteers, in part, have financially supported this event in the past but I’m looking for small businesses to jump in. For as little as $30 per donation, we can make this the best kids business fair yet.”
