WARSAW – The Special Olympics Kosciusko County Panther and Jaguar basketball teams competed in three tournaments, setting the stage for the teams qualifying for the sectional tournament.

The sectional tournament, hosted at Logansport High School, will take place March 21.

Both teams took part in tournaments last weekend at Taylor University, as well as prior tournaments in Elkhart and Miami counties in January.

The Jaguars were fourth place at Elkhart County, losing a pair of contests against the ARC Raiders and Allen County. At North Miami, White County and Huntington County both defeated the Jaguars to send the team to fourth place.

At Taylor over the weekend, the Jaguars fell to both Delaware County 33-14 and Huntington County 32-16.

The Panthers were fourth place at Elkhart County, falling to Porter County and the ARC Raiders. At North Miami, Huntington County and the Jaguars tied and Cass County Kats knocked off the Panthers to send the Panthers to fourth place.

At Taylor, the Panthers moved to third place after a 42-14 loss to Marshall-Starke County, a 28-20 win over Delaware County and 36-28 loss to Marshall-Starke.

Additionally, the Special Olympics Kosciusko County basketball skills players competed at Taylor. Among the results were Derrick Dausman, silver medal; Crystal Redman, silver medal; Annie Castle, fifth place; and Ron Taylor, gold medal.
Also were Robert Svinarich, gold medal; Dustin Wentzel, gold medal; Leah Hershberger, gold medal; Donna Vickery, fourth place; and Nicholas Fletcher, gold medal.
