Mike Nave is seen here before his Aug. 24 car accident. As a result, he was hospitalized for more than six weeks. A benefit is being held at the North Webster American Legion to help with his significant medical expenses.

NORTH WEBSTER —  As it has the reputation of doing, the North Webster community is rallying around one of its own. The benefit bash for Mike Nave will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the North Webster American Legion Post 253, 756 S. SR 13.

The public is invited to attend. The fundraiser is being held to assist with medical expenses. As the owner of a small business, Nave Marine Products, North Webster, he had no medical insurance. The bills are very steep.

On Aug. 24, Nave was in a car accident and sustained life-threatening injuries that included four spinal fractures, a head injury. He received life-saving treatment in two hospitals in Indianapolis for more than six weeks with the majority of his time being spent in ICU. He is now recuperating at the home of his parents.

The event will feature live music by two of his Wawasee High School classmates of 1994 and well known local musicians Scott Hardy and Adam Guy. There will be food and a silent auction and a raffle. Other items may be available for purchase.

For those who wish to donate items to the auction, contact Tara Maskill at (574) 202-6106.

Nave has had family and friends rally around in support during this difficult time. The family wishes it to be known how much they appreciate everyone’s help.
