Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
8:22 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, North SR 13, south of East Vawter Park Road, Syracuse. Driver: Mary E. Caudill, 66, Westmoor Parkway, Goshen. Caudill told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
7:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, North SR 13, south of East CR 850N, Syracuse. Driver: John D. Vanlue, 64, East Northshore Drive, Syracuse. Vanlue told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 13 when his vehicle hit a patch of ice, left the roadway and came to rest on the driver’s side. Vanlue complained of neck pain and was examined and cleared by EMS on the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
7:07 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, East CR 1300N, north of North CR 775E, Syracuse. Driver: Douglas A. Price, North Robin Hood Road, Cromwell. Price told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on CR 1300N when his vehicle slid through an intersection and struck a guard rail. Damage up to $5,000.
4:11 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, North Pleasant Grove Road and East Cornelius Road, Syracuse. Drivers: Sylvia J. McDowell, 63, 63, North Pleasant Grove Road, Syracuse; Bryan T. Finlinson, 43, North Venetian Drive, Syracuse. McDowell told police she was backing her vehicle out of her driveway and did not see the vehicle and trailer being driven northbound on Pleasant Grove Road by Finlinson, causing her vehicle to strike the trailer being towed by Finlinson’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
North Webster
Officers from the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
8:04 Wednesday, Jan. 2, North SR 13 and Esterbrook Drive, North Webster. Drivers: Anna M. Carter, 60, Howard Street, Niles, Mich.; Laurie A. Hathaway, 51, East CR 300N, Warsaw. Carter told police that she was driving her vehicle on SR 13 when the vehicle driven by Hathaway slowed suddenly and she was unable to stop her car in time to avoid a rear-end collision. Both Carter and Hathaway complained of pain to the neck and chest respectively. They both received immediate attention from EMS on the scene but police did not specify as to whether they were transported for further medical treatment. Damage up to $25,000.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
6:37 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, South Huntington Street, south of East Pickwick Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Charles G. Cunningham, 60, West Lakeside Drive, North Manchester; Susan Eberhardt, 62, East Constitution Drive, Syracuse. Police said Cunningham was driving his vehicle southbound on South Huntington Street and disregarded a stop sign, causing his vehicle to collide with Eberhardt’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
6:08 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, East Center Street and North Lincoln Street, Warsaw. Driver: Tania A. Bautista, 26, North Cook Street, Warsaw; Michael S. Arriola, 55, East Market Street, Warsaw; Ryan F. Curren, 50, North Indiana Street, Pierceton. Bautista told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on Center street and was in the intersection in the left turn lane. She said her light turned yellow and she attempted to clear the intersection, causing her vehicle to be struck by Arriola’s vehicle, which in turn then struck Curren’s vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, North Roosevelt Street and East Fort Wayne, Warsaw. Drivers: Bonnie J. Stevens, 75, East CR 300N, Warsaw; Brett A. Shaske, 58, East Mishawaka Road, Elkhart. Stevens told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on East Fort Wayne Street and intended to turn south onto North Roosevelt Street. She said she did not see the vehicle driven by Shaske, which was stopped at the stop sign. Her vehicle collided with Shaske’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
