Warriors CC Starts Fast

Wawasee’s boys cross country team opened its season with a strong 3-0 start, while the Lady Warriors went 2-1 in a four-way meet at Bremen Tuesday.

The boys posted a 24 ahead of NorthWood’s 39, Bremen’s 59 and Fairfield’s 120. Spencer Hare and Michael Hammer finished one-two with respective times of 17:54 and 18:29. Karlson Hand clocked 19:18, Thomas Conley finished in 19:25, and Ben Hoffert turned in a 19:26 stop as the trio finished in sixth through eighth for the Warriors.

NorthWood topped the standings in the girls meet with a 34, meanwhile, as the Lady Warriors posted a 44 score, Bremen put up a 62, and Fairfield tallied an 84.

Emma Ebright led Wawasee in fifth place, followed by Ella Beezley, Bailey Mayhew and KcKenzie Smith, who finished in order in the seventh through ninth places in the field. Cammy Kryder was 15th, Autumn Turner was 21st, and Mariah Hurst finished 22nd.

NorthWood’s individual results were not reported.

NorthWood races next at the Elkhart Central Invite Saturday. Wawasee races again at the NorthWood Invite on Saturday, Aug. 25.
