
SYRACUSE — Wawasee’s girls golf team held its annual invitational at South Shore Saturday, and the Lady Warriors finished in the top half of the field with a 401 for fifth place.
Conference-rival Northridge won the invite with a dominant 348 score, while fellow Northern Lakes Conference squad Concord finished second with a 371, two strokes ahead of third-place Lakeland. Whitko finished in eighth place with a 443 at the 11-team tournament.
Belle Brunner posted a 91 to lead Wawasee, good enough for 10th place in the individual standings. Northridge’s Braeyn O’Dell fired a 75 for the invite low medal, six strokes better than her closest competitor, Madison Keil of Lakeland.
Lesley Tayagua shot 98 behind Brunner for the hosts, while Valerie Haessig shot 101, Jadison Rostochak carded 111, and Tate Cowan turned in a 115.
Leading Whitko was Bailey Wright with a 105, followed by Augusta Garr with a 108. Summer West shot 112, Kayce Sims shot 118, and Erin Starkweather finished up in 126.
Wawasee is back in action on Tuesday with a three-way versus Marian and West Noble.
