WARSAW — On Wednesday, Nov. 29, a complainant brought in information about an inappropriate chat involving Michael S. Anderson, a Warsaw Times-Union reporter, and minors on Facebook.

Michael S. Anderson

Investigators reviewed the information and contacted the Kosciusko County Prosecutor and determined the information fell under Indiana Criminal Code 35-42-4-13, inappropriate communication with a child.  Investigators pursued search warrants for the laptop and Anderson’s cellular device.  While said warrants were being sought, officers went to Anderson’s residence located in Warsaw, in an attempt to locate him for questioning and to secure his cellular device.

Upon arrival, officers informed Anderson why they were at the residence and also asked where his cellular device was located.  Officers asked Anderson to have a seat on the couch.  Prior to doing so, Anderson pushed officers in a rude and insolent manner attempting to retrieve his cellular device from the back bedroom.  Anderson was detained and taken to the Warsaw Police Department along with his cellular device.

A search warrant was obtained for the cellular device and laptop which contained additional inappropriate conversations with minors.  Anderson was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail where he was booked in for battery to law enforcement and inappropriate communication with a child.  Anderson is being held on a Prosecutorial hold.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.   The Warsaw Police Department was assisted by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
