WALKERTON — John Glenn used a 14-4 third quarter to pull ahead of Triton en route to a 35-24 win over the visiting Lady Trojans Wednesday night.

Hannah Wanemacher scored all of Triton’s points in the opening stanza with a pair of 3s and a free throw as the Trojans jumped out to a 7-3 lead at the first quarter break. Delanie Groves made a triple with under a minute left in the second period to give the visitors a 13-11 halftime lead, but they couldn’t hold on at The Aerie.

Wanemacher scored a team-high 12 points, and Chelsea Johnson finished with six points, while Groves and Abigail Powell each chipped in two points for Triton (1-1) one night after a season-opening home win over Argos. Nicole Sechrist pulled down six rebounds ahead of Wanemacher’s five and passed out a game-high three assists.

Mariah Plunkett finished with a game-high 19 points to lead Glenn (2-0), followed by Bethany Hayden’s eight and McKenzie Hudgen’s six points.

Triton finished with twice the number of turnovers as Glenn (14), and the Falcons punished the Trojans with 16 points off turnovers.

Triton returns to the Trojan Trench Friday for a game with South Central at 8 p.m.
