GOSHEN —  Honor Flight Northeast Indiana is hosting an event in Goshen to encourage veterans from the northern area of the state to participate in a future Honor Flight. The presentation will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Grace Community Church, 20076 CR 36, Goshen.

The idea to host the event was born after Korea veteran Don Kennedy participated in the May Honor Flight to Washington. He expressed the need for HFNEI to have more exposure in the Goshen area and offered to help arrange the program. Jacqueline Letherman, his guardian on the May flight, also from Elkhart County, will be assisting.

HFNEI President Dennis Covert will be presenting a 45 minute photo show depicting a typical Honor flight. He states “We want to make sure every veteran is aware of this opportunity and has the chance to go to Washington D.C.” Applications will be available at the event.

Honor Flight NE Indiana, Inc. is a volunteer, nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization. 95 percent of all donations go directly towards the veterans’ trips. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. As of May 2017, Honor Flight Northeast has transported 1,710 veterans to Washington, D. C.
