Wawasee Basketball: Knights Escape In Syracuse

SYRACUSE — For the fourth time in as many games, the Wawasee boys basketball team suffered a single-digit loss. Saturday night it was East Noble handing out the devastating result as the Knights escaped with a 41-40 victory.
Wawasee led 6-5 after the first quarter but scored just three points in the second to trail 22-9 at the break. The Warriors outscored East Noble 18-6 in the third to pull within one, 28-27, going into the final quarter. Both teams scored 13 points in the fourth but the Knights shot 4-5 from the line while Wawasee was 7-10. Those three misses proved costly. The Warriors were 13-21 from the strip for the game, East Noble was 12-14.
East Noble’s Ali Ali led all scorers with 13 points. Jairus Boyer, Cam Schlabach and Trevon Coleman all scored eight for the Warriors.
Wawasee (5-15) hosts Eastside Tuesday night.
Wawasee’s JV won 47-36.
