SOUTH WHITLEY — It was a big day for Aly Reiff and the Whitko girls basketball program. Reiff became the first Lady Wildcat player in history to officially sign with an NCAA Division I program as she inked her letter of intent with Xavier University.
“Why not Xavier? That’s the real question,” said a visibly happy and relieved Reiff when asked why she chose the

Cincinnati-based school. “It’s a great school, a great atmosphere. Any time I talk to somebody about that has either attended Xavier or has visited it, they always have great things to say. I’m just really excited about this opportunity.”
Reiff’s big moment was special as she signed not only with her parents and coaches by her side, but with her family, friends and the entire Whitko team in attendance along with several area media outlets. Many of her teammates and family members were donning Xavier shirts to show their support.
With the signing officially out of the way, Reiff can focus on her senior season in hopes of lifting the currently No. 2 ranked Wildcats to their first sectional title.
“This definitely clears my mind,” Reiff stated. “I feel like I’ll be able to focus on my game more now and playing harder, wanting to represent both of my schools the best that I can.”
Reiff totaled 1,270 points through her first three seasons, earning herself the top spot on Whitko’s all-time scoring list. On a per game basis, Reiff averaged 19.1 point, 5.5 assists and 3.8 steals during her junior campaign.
