ELKHART — Transcripts of testimony during the grand jury, which indicted Kosciusko County Sheriff C. Aaron Rovenstine, of those individuals the state will or may call during the trial, were addressed in a telephonic conference shortly after noon today, Wednesday, Aug. 24.

A conference between defense counsel James Voyles and Jennifer Lukemeyer and deputy prosecutor Tammy Napier was held in the courtroom of Elkhart Superior Court Judge Evan Roberts. Roberts is the special judge in the case.

The conference was called after Kosciusko Circuit Court reporter Jill Miner questioned if the transcripts should be provided on CD or paper. It was noted there were approximately 60 witnesses called. Miner also informed the judge the recording device was not turned off between the testimony of witnesses, recording any conversations in the courtroom.

After approximately 30 minutes of discussion, Roberts ruled the testimony would be provided in the form of typed transcripts, an order will be issued protecting those transcripts from public inspection, the request of names, prioritized in importance, will also be protected from public release, there would not be a release of transcripts on CD. He also stated should the Kosciusko Circuit Court Clerk have time constraints in providing the documents in a timely manner he will provide assistance from his court in preparing the transcripts.

It was also noted in no way would the release of these transcripts unseal the grand jury testimony.
