WARSAW — Walk-n-Wander has returned to downtown Warsaw with 20 all-new sculptures depicting various, lifelike scenes.

The sculptures, 20 in all, are by Seward Johnson and are part of a summer-long exhibit titled, “All ‘New’ Walk-n-Wander 2016.” This is the second Walk-n-Wander exhibit to grace downtown Warsaw. The first was in 2014 when Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer commissioned the Warsaw Public Art Commission.

“We are so excited,” Paula Davis of Warsaw First Fridays said. “Seeing the sculptures this morning after working on this for almost a year, it is exciting to see them live in person.”

Davis specified that the sculptures are all new this year; none are from the 2014 tour. They depict everything from children playing to mariachis, golfers, even Abraham Lincoln. A man buys a lady a cup of coffee; two men shake hands, glad to see each other; the mailman double-checks an address on an envelope; a newspaper recreates a real front page from 1984.

The tour takes visitors on a walk of approximately 1 mile, from the courthouse to Central Park to the chamber of commerce and back. Brochures will be on display at participating downtown businesses beginning this Thursday, June 2.

An official unveiling will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the southwest corner of the Kosciusko County courthouse, next to the soldiers’ memorial. This will be on conjunction with Warsaw First Friday. The sculptures will remain on display through Sept. 29, ensuring they will be there when the Indiana Bicentennial torch relay comes through town, Davis said.
