Board Approves Personnel Changes During Brief Meeting

Wawasee School Corp WSC 2014 IconSYRACUSE — During a very brief special meeting Tuesday, May 17, in Syracuse, the Wawasee school board approved personnel changes and a few other items on the short agenda.

Among the personnel changes was the approval of hiring Mike Snavely as the new transportation director for the school corporation effective May 31. He will eventually replace Bob Lahrman who is retiring in June.

Snavely is presently the assistant director of transportation for Warsaw Community Schools. He will be invited to attend the June 14 board meeting to meet the school board members.

Other personnel changes included the approval of the retirement of Eldonna Warren, secretary of Wawasee Middle School, effective at the end of the school year. Randall Johnson will also be retiring effective May 31. He is the energy management specialist for the school corporation.

Brigette Lindeman has resigned as first-grade teacher at North Webster Elementary effective June 24. And Tracy Swain will be a mid intervention teacher at Wawasee High School beginning with the 2016-17 school year.

The board also approved a $653 donation from Milford PTO to help offset the cost of the Milford Middle School eighth-grade trip to Kings Island in Ohio June 2. A trip to Costa Rica for the WHS Spanish Club was also approved by the board.

And the board approved a resolution to reimburse expenditures involved with the purchasing of the 1:1 initiative electronic devices. Some of the devices were purchased before the grant funding for them came through.

The next regular monthly meeting of the school board will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, in the Warrior Room of the high school.
