Joan W. ClinglerMrs. Joann W. Clingler, 74, of Tippecanoe passed away at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at her son’s home.

On April 18, 1941, Joann was born in Delong to Joseph Walter and Daisey Mae Miller Denny. Joann and Melvin Lewis Clingler were married on Jan. 6, 1958, in Leiters Ford. They shared 37 years of life’s adventures. He passed away on Dec. 9, 1995.

Joann loved the Lord Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior and often would share her testimony. She would want you to know John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son and who so ever believeth in him will not perish but have everlasting life. Loving children was a constant in her life, while assisting with Vacation Bible School and the AWANA programs at the Tippecanoe Community Church.

“Rain or shine, snow or sleet” was a saying Joann knew well as she served the Delong community for 23 years as their postmaster. Her family owned and operated the Clinglers’ Country Market of DeLong and Mentone. The Clinglers’ Country Inn of Delong was a favorite eatery to many.

Joann is lovingly remembered by two sons: William L. (Michelle) Clingler, Culver; Pastor Gary C. (Cindy) Clingler, Rochester; nine grandchildren: Tom (Peggy) Clingler; Eric (Jenny) Clingler; Amber (Ryan) Onyx; Larry (C.J.) Clingler; Samantha (Kyle) Town; Steven Clingler; Melanie (Mac) Rollins; Autumn Allen (Nathan A.) Adams; Austin Allen; 14 great-grandchildren: Carter; Sydney; Kameron; Jordan; Owen; Kayley; Hunter; Parker; Ady; Kayleigh; Kyla; Kynslie; Kenzie; Mayci; son-in-law: Alan (Deana) Allen, Delong; a sister: Carol Morningstar; husband: David, Tippecanoe; three brothers: Carl (Lelia) Denny, Fish Lake; James Denny, Culver; Gaylord Brown, Ct.; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Joann in death are her parents; husband; a daughter: Christine C. Allen, on Aug. 20, 2011; and a brother: Norman Lee Denny.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, before the 11 a.m. funeral, also at Good Family Funeral Home. Pastor George Shoemaker will officiate services. Interment will be in the Leiters Ford Cemetery.
