Triton In The Hunt At HNAC
KNOX – So far, so good for the Triton Trojans at the first-ever Hoosier North Athletic Conference boys tennis tournament.
Triton are just three points behind regular season champion Knox, 42-39, after four of the five courts picked up wins in day one of the tourney.
All three of the singles courts moved to the winner’s bracket in the tourney. Gavin Eads at No. 1 beat North Judson’s Loic Demale three and two while Mace Eads trumped Cameron McDaniel of LaVille love and one at No. 2 singles. In the No. 3 singles grid, Aaron Stichter outlasted LaVille’s Leo Martinelli four and three.
Triton’s No. 2 doubles, unsure if Brenden Damron would be healthy in time for the tourney, had Damron and Keygan Moiser run to a 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 final over North Judson’s Brendan Medbourn and Nick Sierzputowski. Judson’s Kaden Shepherd and Bohen Stayrock bested Triton’s Dalton Bailey and Chase Butler in the No. 1 doubles matchup.
North Judson sit with 30 points and LaVille at 27 points in the four teams working in the tournament.
The HNAC will resume Thursday at Knox.
