Warsaw Sports Wrap – May 23
The Warsaw baseball team closed out regular-season play Saturday by going 1-1 in its own Tiger Tournament.
The Tigers dropped a 6-1 final to Fort Wayne Snider.
Ryan Marshall had two hits, including a double, in the loss. Brad Christenberry and Ethyn Bradley each also had two hits and Blake Foreman a hit and an RBI.
Zach Witt took the pitching loss as he allowed six runs in three innings of work with two strikeouts.
Trevor Armstrong notched the win for Snider in a complete game with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Warsaw rolled past DeKalb 13-1 in five innings. The Tigers, who had 15 hits in the win, scored 11 runs in the third inning.
Cole Baker slugged a home run as Warsaw piled up eight extra base hits in the rout.
Marselo Rodriguez had four hits, including two doubles, for the winners. Marshall had two hits and three RBI and Tyler LaFollette had two hits with a triple and drove in two runs.
Kevin Hawley went four innings, walking none and striking out four to earn the pitching win.
Warsaw will play Elkhart Memorial next Saturday (May 30) at 1 p.m. in a semifinal game of the Class 4-A Elkhart Memorial Sectional.
