Tennis Edged By Bremen

The Triton girls tennis team dropped a tough 3-2 final to Bremen Monday.

Annie Strahler outlasted Shayla May 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles for the deciding points for the Lions in the key Northern State Conference match.

Kaelyn Mason won at No. 1 singles for the Trojans with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Alexa Harhbarger.

Triton also got a win at No. 1 doubles as the team of Kolbie Mason and Hannah Wvnemacher outlasted Lacey Bennett and Gabby Buck 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

Kylie Phillips of Bremen topped Kylie Mason 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. The team of Shaelyn Atkins and Liz Lawmaster of the Lions beat Quinn Downing and Emma Ross 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Triton drops to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the NSC. Bremen improves to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Bremen posted a 6-0 final in junior varsity action.

Triton hosts North Judson Wednesday.

Trojans Edge Lancers

The Triton baseball team topped LaVille 6-4 for a Northern State Conference win.

The host Trojans scored three runs in the fourth inning to rally from a 4-3 deficit for the league win.

Zac Pitney had a big game with two hits, including a triple, and four RBI for the winners.

Winning pitcher Dylan Hensley had a double and an RBI. Game McPherson had two hits for the Trojans.

Triton will host Jimtown in NSC action on Wednesday.

Triton One Run Better Than LaVille

In a clash of NSC rivals Monday, Triton used an RBI groundout by Taytum Hargrave to best LaVille, 8-7, at Newton Park.

Hargrave’s RBI came in the fifth that broke a 7-7 tie.

Hannah Jennings and Nicole Sechrist each doubled and drove in two to pace the Trojans (5-4), and Lexee Lemler tripled home a run. The Trojans had 13 hits in the game.

Brycelyn Garbison earned the win in relief, working five innings and giving up just one earned run while striking out six. The Lancers touched up starter Courtney Jennings for five runs in two innings but the Trojans also committed five errors in the game.

Triton will have its hands full Tuesday night in a semi-state rematch with Josie Wood and North Miami, a 5 p.m. start at Keyser Field.
