SOUTH BEND – Area baseball fans will get a chance to meet a Hall of Famer up close later this month.

Craig Biggio, who was just voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this week, will be the guest speaker Jan. 26 at the Meet the Team Dinner for the Notre Dame baseball team.

The event, which will be held in the Joyce Center on the ND campus, will offer dinner, a raffle and silent auction and an autograph session with the 2015 Notre Dame baseball team as well as a chance to attend a question and answer session with Biggio. The events begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7:30 p.m.

Biggio, who had an outstanding 20-year career with the Houston Astros, was chosen for the Hall of Fame earlier this week along with Randy Johnson, John Smoltz and Pedro Martinez. The quartet will be inducted into Cooperstown on July 26.

Biggio’s sons Conor and Cavan are both members of the Notre Dame baseball team.
