SOUTH BEND – As a result of a recent change to Mark Grace’s schedule, the South Bend Cubs have postponed the First Pitch Banquet scheduled for January 20, 2015.
Grace was scheduled among a handful of college and minor league coaches to appear as guest speakers at the banquet in South Bend to help open the first season as the South Bend Cubs. The team officially switched organization affiliations from the Arizona Diamondbacks as the South Bend Silver Hawks last fall.
“We apologize to our fans who were looking forward to the First Pitch Banquet,” South Bend Cubs President Joe Hart said. “We are disappointed in the conflict but certainly understand how schedules do change. It is our desire to reschedule the event and find another guest speaker.”
The South Bend Cubs will take the field in a 7-inning exhibition contest against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Four Winds Field on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. The team will then host the Bowling Green Hot Rods for Opening Night on Thursday, April 9, 2015.
