Voter Attendance Needed At Midterm Elections
Dear Editor,
This November we have a few important political races in Kosciusko County. Midterm elections often do not get the turn out as they should. There are no “big races” (presidential, gubernatorial, senatorial offices) at stake, yet the midterms are every bit as important.
Everyone eligible to vote should vote to ensure that they/you achieve equity in the political process. The electorate has become jaded with the entire political process with good reason. No action is seen on important issues, rather it is noticed on efforts to maintain the establishment and status quo. When decisions are made they are made against the voters’ wishes or not made at all. Politics is and has been about power and control; it should be about service and results. We need selfless leaders in place that seek to better the office they hold.
This November voters will have a choice to effect positive change in these contested midterm races. Thomas Jefferson said “I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.” New perspectives, new ideals and positive change can come about by the voters stirring the pot from time to time. This November the time is right for a little rebellion over the status quo. To achieve this we/you must register to vote, research the candidates and make our choice known at the ballot box. Prepare to install leaders who will make improvements and changes that will benefit the Kosciusko County Community in total. Challenge everyone you know to vote this November.
Sincerely,
Travis C. Marsh
