Megan Burns, 33, was traveling north on U.S. 31 near Peru when a southbound 2007 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Floyd Smith, 17, of Kokomo, crossed the median of the highway and struck her 2013 Ford Edge. The accident happened at about 2:30 p.m.

Officers from the Indiana State Police, the Peru Police Department, and the Miami County Sheriff’s Department responded to the two vehicle crash, which severely injured Smith and a passenger in his car, Terra Hildebrand, 22, of Logansport.
