Whitko Announces Baseball Honors

Whitko-Icon-130x130SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko’s baseball program received several honors after another successful season.

The Wildcats went 20-10 overall and 4-3 in the Three Rivers Conference, earning 20 wins for the third consecutive season. Three players were named to the TRC First Team in senior Ethan Nicodemus, Zach Snep and Tanner Gaff. Nicodemus hit .421 with 29 RBIs, Snep .364 with 25 RBIs and Gaff was 8-5 on the bump with a 2.24 earned run average.

Senior Avery Robbins and sophomore Garrett Smiley were Honorable Mention All-TRC, Robbins hitting .360 with 25 RBIs and Smiley added 27 RBIs and four homers this season.

Nicodemus, Tanner Hughes, Blake Castle and Zach Baughman were all named Honorable Mention Academic All-TRC.

For the team itself at the baseball banquet, Nicodemus was named team MVP and earned the Silver Slugger Award. Hughes earned Most Improved, Robbins the Coaches Award, Snep the Golden Glove, Gaff the Cy Young and Seth Patrick the Mental Attitude Award.
