Indiana State Police are working an active investigation into alleged “official misconduct and theft” purporting to a Fulton town employee.

Neither ISP nor Fulton town officials will say who is at the center of the investigation, but it would appear town marshal Jason Coleman could be part of the case.

Coleman, who served as Fulton’s part-time marshal since Jan. 1, 2008, submitted his letter of resignation just after ISP revealed they were contacted by the Fulton town council and town clerk of a problem and began an investigation. The alleged criminal activity was reported on April 15 of this year. Coleman currently serves as police chief of Rochester.

Earlier this week, Fulton appointed deputy marshal Jim Reason as the interim town marshal, but town officials are not talking about the case at all, according to a report by The Rochester Sentinel.

An official report from ISP has reportedly been turned over to the Fulton County Prosecutor’s office for review.
