SYRACUSE – It took a little work, but Wawasee finally put away the Whitko Wildcats Thursday night, 18-8, in a six-inning junior varsity baseball game at Wawasee.

The Warriors jumped out to a 10-2 lead only for Whitko to strike back with five runs in the fourth inning to cut the score to 10-7. Wawasee then pasted a six-run fourth on the scoreboard and closed out the game with two runs in the sixth to end it.

Lucas Garza and Caleb Dingeldein both led Wawasee (4-1) with four hits each while Aaron Beer earned the win on the hill along with adding a two-run triple to his offensive output.

Wawasee and Whitko combined for 32 hits on a night when the win was blowing straight in from left field.

Wawasee will host NorthWood Friday afternoon while Whitko will welcome in Heritage also Friday afternoon.
