General Motors is recalling nearly 1.2 million SUVs for defective side air bags. The Detroit, Mich., automaker has also recalled a total of about 364,000 commercial vans and Cadillac sedans for separate problems.

GM is facing multiple investigations over its handling of a recall of more than 1.6 million small cars for defective ignition switches. In a USA Today report, GM CEO Mary Barra is quoted saying the automaker failed to move fast enough on the ignition switch fault. Worldwide, the faulty ignition switches are for 12 deaths in 31 crashes.

The company says it expects to spend approximately $300 million in the first quarter to repair all of the vehicles. In this latest recall, the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia are affected because their side air bags might not deploy in a collision.
