Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department

Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Tuesday, Sept. 17, 5:38 a.m. East Beer Road, Milford. Driver: Robert Bender, 44, West Zims Court, Milford. Bender was eastbound on Beer Road when a loose horse crossed his path causing a collision. The horse was later found and had a laceration on the mouth. The horse was returned to it’s owner. Damages: $2,500

Monday, Sept. 16, 7:48 a.m. South Packerton Road and SR 14, North Manchester. Drivers: Mark S. Esch, 53, Oak Street, Huntington; Darcy M. Sroufe, 36, West 400 South, South Whitley. Esch was southbound on Packerton Road when he failed to yield at the SR 14 intersection causing him to strike into the side Sroufe’s westbound vehicle. Damages: up to $10,000

Warsaw Police Department

Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Tuesday, Sept. 17, 12:39 a.m. Lake City Highway and North Parker Street. Drivers: James E. Eddy, 51, East State Road 4, La Porte; and Tiffany N. Grindle, 21, South Roosevelt Street, Warsaw. Eddy was eastbound on U.S. 30 approaching the intersection when the traffic signal turned to red and he was unable to stop his vehicle. Eddy was struck by Grindle who was southbound through the intersection. The fuel tanks on Eddy’s vehicle were severely damaged causing a large amount of diesel fuel to leak onto the roadway. Sun Pro, a hazards material company in Elkhart was called to clean the diesel fuel off of the road way and both Grindle and Eddy’s vehicle were towed due to disabling damage. Grindle and her passengers, Danielle Marie Schultz and two children, were all taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital with complaints of pain. Medical staff at KCH informed officers that neither child had injuries but were given showers to clean of the diesel fuel they had come into contact with. Schultz was receiving scans on both of her knees and neck to check for injury. Grindle was examined for possible head injuries. Eddy was issued a citation for disregarding a traffic control device. Damages: up to $25,000

Monday, Sept. 16, 11:46 a.m. 1275 Provident Dr. Drivers: Zulema Flores, 37, East Catherine Street, Milford; and Mitchell Yoder, 59, Ranch Road, Warsaw. Flores was backing out of a parking stall when she backed into Yoder’s vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000

Monday, Sept. 16, 8:47 a.m. East Center and South High streets. Drivers: Joshua Ferverda, 28, West 250 South 153, Warsaw; and Dennis Plummer, 71, Dogwood Lane, Warsaw. Ferverda was northbound on High Street when failed to yield the right of way and attempted to make a left turn at the Center Street intersection. Ferverda struck the side of Plummer’s southbound vehicle and was cited for driving while suspended and failure to yield right of way. Damages: up to $2,500

Syracuse Police Department

Officers of the Syracuse Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Monday, Sept. 16, 3:53 p.m. 12675 N. Syracuse Webster Rd. Driver: Brayton M. Fretz, 16, N. Sawgrass Ln., Leesburg. Fretz was backing out of a parking spot when he struck a fence. Damages: under $750
