North Webster Police, Indiana State Police and deputies of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department were called at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to a residence in the 9000 block of CR 500 North, North Webster, for a potential hostage situation, but it appears the call was a false alarm.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Chad Hill said information originally obtained by Kosciusko County Central Dispatch Center appeared to have been a false report.
Dispatch was receiving messages through a hearing impaired translation service and being told a female was allegedly hiding under a bed from a male subject who was in another room. When the call disconnected, further contact with the caller could not be obtained.
Officers responded to an address obtained by dispatch. Most officers departed the scene after approximately 30 minutes.
