Joan J. Poe, 81, North Manchester, Ind., died at 7:39 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born Sept. 21, 1931, in Waterloo, Ind., to Marion and Esther (Benjamin) Dirr. She graduated from Eden (Ohio) High School in 1949.

Joan retired from Heckman Bindery after 43 years of service. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #1518 of North Manchester and enjoyed working in her flower gardens, crocheting and traveling to see her grandchildren.

On July 17, 1984, she married Roger L. Poe. He died Sept. 7, 2005.

She is survived by three sons: Greg A. Houser, LaFontaine, Ind.; Neil W. (Cindy) Houser, Kasilof, Ark.; and Dennis L. (Valerie) Houser, North Manchester; one sister: Marcella Peppler, Fort Wayne, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son: Michael D. Houser.

Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114 W, North Manchester. Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home with Pastor J.P. Freeman. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, Ind.
