WARSAW — A preliminary glimpse of a city-wide tornado warning system plan was given to Warsaw City Council members Monday evening, Aug. 17.

Replacement of the tornado siren at Warsaw-Wane Township Fire Station 2, and replacement of the roof at that same station, was approved by members of the WWTF Protection Territory board Tuesday evening, Aug. 4.

Emergency personnel are currently testing the tornado sirens in preparation for the spring season. Routine testing will commence in Warsaw and surrounding towns.

At 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory will again conduct a tornado siren test in the city of Warsaw. Fire chief Mike Brubaker said it is the department’s goal to make sure all warning devices are working properly to adequately warn the community residents in the event of tornadoes and severe weather.
